Ystradgynlais Circular

Another endeavour, to find out whether it was possible to have a circular route of Ystradgynlais, encompassing some of the local heritage we have around us.

Starting point for this venture was the old Diamond Colliery, now a wildlife park.

Out of the park follow Glantawe road up to St CynogsChurch, left over the river bridge, then right up to the old Masons Arms, bearing left and over the A4067, on the footbridge.

Turn right and head for coronation park. A series of pathways lead you over to Cwmgiedd, and on to Caer-Lan.

Again following the pathway, leads to Penrhos, and up to the old tramway now cycle path 43.

Follow this down to Station Road, cross the road and continue on the old tramway, then exit back down to the Diamond Park.

An easy to moderate walk, with a few steep climbs alon the route.

Allow approx 3 to 4 hours, depending on your pace.

Route length approx 6 1/2 miles.
