Llandovery Castle

Remains of a 13th century castle. first built as an earth and timber motte and bailey, by the Normans

around 1116, but was attacked and destroyed immediately by the Welsh forces of

Gryffydd ap Rhys.

After several changes of control over the next century, King Edward 1 refortiied the defences in 1277, but again attacked by

the forces of Llewelyn the Last in 1282, and again by Owain Glyn Dwr rebellion in 1403, and left in ruin.
