Carreg Cennen Castle
Remains of a dramatic castle of the 13th century, set in a beutiful landscape, in Trapp close to Llandeilo.
lord Rhys of Deheubarth, erected the first castle on the site in the 12th century, and was captured by Edward 1, in a Welsh campaign, in 1277.
Constant attacks, by both, Llewelyn ap Gruffudd and Rhys ap Maredudd, meant the castle changed hands several times between the English and Welsh.
It became a Lancastrian stronghold during the War of the Roses, and in 1462 was occupied by 500 Yorkist troops to stop it being fortified again.
